New school uniforms, including shoes, jackets and underclothing, are furnished through Operation School Bell®, the nationally acclaimed philanthropy of National Assistance League®. Members also provide recipients with backpacks filled with school supplies, good grooming kits filled with personal hygiene items and a new book.
With help from a volunteer member, more than 1,500 students are supplied with appropriate clothing and backpacks each year, making recipients indistinguishable from their classmates, building pride and reducing the problem of school absences due to inadequate clothing. For many children, this is the first time they've had new clothing to call their own. |
